Story of making the movie
The story of Synchronycity arises from the concern of the writers to tell a simple story about real people, something that revolved around themselves, their relationships and conversations. We knew that to portray that on the screen we didn’t need much, or at least we thought. But little by little, things got bigger and bigger with more people who believed in the project wanting to be involved. And so, production began work in early 2008.
To make this project a reality, Don’t Panic Films was born. A small production company founded by Ivan Morales, Adan Lerma, Samuel Sosa and Celeste North. With a short film produced at the end of 2007 (Culpa Levissima) and directed by Morales and Lerma, the team was ready to take the big step and make a feature film. Even before we had a script, we knew it would be the next step.
The script is structured around certain rules we set to for ourselves. These rules were simple: a few actors (at the end they’re only 5), one main location, and almost no costume changes. This, to ensure that production could be kept to a manageable size for a first film. After lots of rain, an almost destroyed garden, airplanes flying past the location and lots of stress, the movie was shot in 2 weeks. By the end of 2008 the first cut was seen by the happy members of this small team. It makes us really happy to be able to share it with you now.
